On May 1 – 3, 2024 DuPage County comes together in a day of giving, uniting our community around important social causes and helping local nonprofit organizations working to better our communities.
The GardenWorks Project is joining in this community-wide movement in order to further our mission of fighting hunger by nourishing families and neighbors with homegrown, fresh, and accessible food. Last year, GardenWorks grew over 13,000 pounds of vegetables for families and food pantries throughout the western suburbs and diverted excess produce weekly from local farms, markets, and backyard gardens.
This year, we hope to expand those efforts to meet the ever-increasing demands for food assistance and fresh food access. During this year’s 3-day Giving DuPage Days online fundraiser, our goal is to raise $10,000 to:
- Build, maintain and support more household and community gardens across the region.
- Rescue and redistribute fresh produce from our farm partners to provide food pantries with more high-quality, fresh foods.
- Equip program gardeners with the tools, workshops and resources they need to successfully grow their own produce.
Join us in the efforts to strengthen food security and access in your community by making a donation today to The GardenWorks Project and to any of the wonderful participating nonprofit organizations in DuPage County. Online giving is open NOW and will end at 11:59PM on May 3.
