Growing for good with Skeleton Key Brewery

Vegetable gardens may not be top of mind when you think of a local brewery, but for us, it’s a perfect pairing.

We’re privileged to be the recipients of Skeleton Key Brewery’s charitable efforts as their 2023 nonprofit partner, alongside West Suburban Community Pantry, one of our food pantry partners.

Skeleton Key joins us in the important work of building food security for their local community.  Skeleton Key kicked off their “Growing for Good” campaign with a seed-starting demo, where they provided the tools and knowledge for their community to grow produce at home.  All produce is being donated to West Suburban Community Pantry, to make fresh choices more readily available.

Skeleton Key’s creative brewers are crafting a special themed beer this fall – with herbs we’re growing at our DuPage Fairgrounds gardens – that will benefit GardenWorks!  Sage and lemon thyme, along with other locally sourced herbs, will add delightful flavor to this special brew, which will be premiered at our signature fall fundraiser, Harvest Against Hunger, on October 14th at the College of DuPage.

Stay tuned for event details – mingle with us, support fresh food access in our region, while enjoying this special brew – because it’s FOR GOOD, right?
